Slippery When Wet

I was told to talk about M/M romance so I thought I'd put my little spin on it. When I started writing M/M I thought I would throw my own little spin on it  and write men of different cultures being in love.

We live in a world where everywhere you look there are interracial couples. I've gotten some flack over the years from people who think I shouldn't be writing MM and yes I have gotten hate mail because apparently I'm doing something wrong. My first hate mail was from a woman who thought mixing a black man with a white is a horrible thing and  I should "be ashamed" of myself because I'm the "problem" in the world today. I blinked at the email, took a deep breath, then quite politely replied to her email explaining to her that she was the one with the issue not me.

But I digress.

Personally, I don't know if there is anything in the MM world more beautiful than men who speak different language loving each other.  Recently I wrote what we in the industry call a BLASIAN erotic romance. This is Asian/Black in my story LOVE LIES BLEEDING  When I write things like this sometimes it hasn't been done before and to my shock and happiness, it was received quite well.

What do I believe when it comes to M/M interracial romance? I believe in LOVE--period.  I do not focus on the sex or the skin colour or the language--when two people meet, two men meet and they feel something for each other other than hate and contempt, I consider that a good day.

I celebrate MM romance by staying true to what I love the best - cultures. I celebrate the men who fall in love with each other not caring that one's skin colour might be the same or one speaks with an accent. I celebrate the the idea of Mantasies and I truly hope that after reading one of my books, gay men out there will look at the world and perspective mates in a different light. I want them to take from my stories that their one true love--that special person may not be from their background and that hopefully will open them up to the possibilities of something more than the norm.

M/M romance for me is my way of giving back to a culture (the lgbt community) for all the good things they have blessed me with over the years, including great food, great friends and laughter!

  1. I love interracial relationships, M/M or otherwise. I believe it's a beautiful thing when people from different worlds come together and share a love so strong that it crosses the language and cultural barriers. Thanks for your stories :D.

  3. I prefer diversity in all things. Interracial romance means more when you realize the entire world is not white.

  5. I think LOVE is the main factor in any relationship. Whether you are straight, gay, white, black, Asian, Hispanic...what difference does it make? If it makes YOU happy, then screw whatever anyone else thinks. It's a shame that society makes this so difficult!

  9. I have no problem with interracial romances, m/m or m/f. As I matter if fact, I'm in an interracial m/f relationship. It's nice to see when authors go out of the "norm" for stories, especially when interracial relationships are more prevalent than some people think.

  10. I think love is about the person you're with it doesn't matter the race. I like seeing that portrayed in books too m/m or m/f.

  11. Ethnicity does not matter to me, it's all about the heat level between the protagonists and the hotter the better.

  12. Remmy, I am absolutely on board with representing all different types of people falling in love. I feel like in M/M, as in all the rest of media, the focus is on a predominantly white experience, and I find that a shame. Not only do different backgrounds make for interesting storytelling, but it's the reality of our world. It's a shame to me that more art (books, movies, tv shows, whatever) isn't geared to the full human experience. So, kudos to you for doing that with your writing.

Also, thank you for being part of this hop and sharing with all of us!

  13. I agree with the above post. Unfortunately there's not enough interracial romance out there, especially in the M/M genre. I feel the reason is because it's two times harder for men to have a solid relationship when they're judged both for being gay and for being in an interracial relationship.
Love between men is a beautiful thing, no matter the skin color. And I'd definitely love to see more interracial M/M books out there.

  15. As long as the story is good I don't care if it's a interracial book. Some of my favorite stories are interracial books.

  18. Haha... to be honest, I never thought of any book I've read that way. Interracial M/M isn't anything but another good steamy gay novel. LOL... I don't think about ethnicity when picking my books. I see a cover or read a blurb that sounds good, I buy and usually, love the read. LOL...
So, if I must label it then yes, of course! lol.. I'm completely in love with any and all interracial MM books. :3

Thanks so much for the contest!

"This story is about two grown ass gay men that each have a little doubt for one reason or another if their relationship will work. The story is conveyed well and kept completely on the adult playing field, I loved it! When these two get going in the bedroom it is passionate and sensual."--TSM
