Story title: Collision with Realty
Author: Storm Duffy

Blurb:
Flynn’s new boss is so hot he can’t wait to get
home to tell the chatroom how much he wants Dom’s cock down his throat. By
Friday, he’s shared quite a few thoughts on what he’d like his boss to do to
him. But he’s not as anonymous as he thinks, and Dom’s intent on disciplining
him for breaching company policy on social networking. Dom gives him a choice
of put up or shut up: he can play out the fantasy in real life, or he can walk
out of the office without a word to HR as long as he never talks that way about
Dom again. Flynn chooses “put up”—but he’s forgotten about one of the things he
said he wouldn’t mind doing.
Review:
A Collision
with Reality has great promise. The
concept for the story was brilliant. Even though it’s a really short tale, I
found myself laughing out loud sometimes, which is a good thing. BDSM isn’t
generally my thing, but I have researched the topic for a couple of years now
because I was curious. In stories, I don’t mind it as long as the participants are
adults and go into it willingly. I would gladly read a book with some raunchy
sexy mixed with BDSM—after all, a good book is a good book.
So I was
looking for BDSM when I started reading this story. Even though this is book
one of a series, I really didn’t get a good feel for the characters.
The story seemed all about Flynn and there was very little in the way of Dom.
Reading that the story was BDSM themed I expected Dom to be this,
dominant force that makes Flynn fight to keep control—I expected him to teach
Flynn a rather sexy lesson or two. I didn’t get that.
The first impression I
had of Dom through Flynn’s eyes was amazing.
But as the story wound down, Dom lost his dom. He didn’t exhibit much control of the
situation and at times I thought he was detached from the whole situation. I wanted Dom to take charge, to gently remind
Flynn of his current position then use it and Flynn’s willingness to “put up”
and make Flynn do some seriously naughty (in that sexy all manlove kind of way)
things to Dom's very delectable body.
My biggest problem with the story is the BDSM.
While I don’t write BDSM, I have friends who both write and live it. Over the
years I’ve spoken to them in length on the subject, visited a few um—establishments
that caters to the community and I’m lost as to where it plays a part in this
story. I feel Collision with Reality is more of an erotica with some kink—but perhaps
this is just a gateway to the other stories.
A Collision with Realty is a good little read, if you ignore the BDSM label you will enjoy it. They say first impressions are
everything, right? Perhaps Dom needed to put a much more controlled foot
forward. Still, I'll be checking out the other stories in the series to see the progression of these men.
