Under The Gun - BLMorticia

Good morning readers and thanks for listening to me ramble today. So, what am I talking about on this stop for the blog tour? MEN! That’s right, men.

Now, I’m not trying to give any lessons here about how they smell, what they’re made of, or anything like that. What I’m speaking of is how they inspire us as writers, artists, or even you, as a reader. How you ask?

Think about a man you really like, celebrity or not. Okay, besides your husband, Jesus, work with me here.

Does this man make you all gushy inside? Think naughty things? Are you dreaming about the man bending you over the washer in the laundry room while you wait for the clothes to dry? Or perhaps you’d like to be on a secluded island with him? Maybe. Then you’ve been MENSPIRED.

No, it’s not a real word, but it means that gorgeous hottie is someone you think about during a day dream, a relaxing bath, or a nap after you’ve sent the kiddies to school. He inspires your thoughts, invades your subconscious.

As creators, a lot of us have a man in mind when we write. The characters are fictional, but we build a guy in our brain and form a personality around him. I can’t speak for anyone else, but for all 4 of my muses, we scout the net looking for a specific man to play the “role.” It’s usually something specific like his eyes, his build, or if he has something distinctive that says he should play this part.

Who have been some of our menspirations? We aren’t that cliché’, picking the
ones everyone wants like George Clooney or Brad Pitt. Our “actors” have been men who are models or even musicians. Some have been actual actors, but they’re ones not everyone knows.

For Under the Gun, my menspirations were model Tyson Beckford and David Taylor, a former porn star. I picked them because they looked good together and when I search for muses, that goes into my decision too. For Wounded Hearts I picked Colton Ford as Cyrus Abrams and for the N’awlins Exotica series, Shemar Moore for Frankie and Umid for Kajika.

Of course there are many more, but these are only a few of examples. When we look for the menspiration, the appearance usually writes itself in the story and as we go along, we stop a moment to pick the person we’re thinking to visualize the action going on. Men-inspired. Inspired by a certain man, to do what we want.

Surely when you’ve had that naughty dream of Brad Pitt from Lonesome Dove , it was a thrill that made you laugh or got a little moist down below. It titillated you as a woman or man, and made you want to react. A quick round with the vibrator perhaps? Hope you got batteries. In an authors’ life it’s the same. We’ve been menspired to pen a few thousand words around a particular man and erm, we might be having a little fun afterwards too.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this fun and sexy post, and in the meantime, keep living and dreaming. Enjoy a little more info on my newest book, a redo, Under the Gun, the first book in the Hardy and Day series!

Pre DADT Repeal...

Jaded by his lover leaving him for a woman, Camdyn Hardy is looking for love and partnership. When he goes to the local shooting range, he only wants to let off a little steam, but meeting Malik Day, a discharged army serviceman is a welcome surprise.

Malik’s issues go farther than just a lack of love. Discharged for defending a fellow gay soldier got him kicked out of the Army and back at home with his bible thumping parents. When Malik meets Camdyn, the sparks are there, but both of them are too afraid to make their desires known to each other.

After several conversations and dates, Camdyn and Malik are hot for one another and ready to take the next step. When they do, they discover they have a lot more in common than just a need for a committed relationship.

Some days are better than others and most could be a helluva lot better, but when you get into a fight with your significant other, of the moment, what else can be done? I wished we could’ve gotten past it, but there wasn’t any way to avoid it.
My boyfriend and I were working on a case together when we almost slipped up because of our… ‘encounter’… on the job. At my insistence, too, and this made it even worse. Our client wasn’t amused when he literally caught us with our pants down; he almost fired us on the spot. Still, we managed to finish. The job, that is.  My man tried to tell me to wait until we were safe and out of sight, but my horniness wouldn’t allow me to. I shouldn’t have listened to my dick, but some days he thinks he’s the brains of this outfit.
After that, Tay started having second thoughts about our relationship. He thought we’d lost focus by working together, and we should split up. I tried pleading with him.  I told him it wasn’t a good reason. “No, no, no, no, no,” I insisted, vigorously shaking my head. But the more I protested, the more he vehemently disagreed about going on with this work/play scenario. Disagreed about us.
No matter how much I begged… no matter how much or how loudly I promised I’d be more of a good boy, he’d have none of it.  He decided to move on, and he did, leaving every tie to Camdyn & Associates behind.
I knew he still loved me, but I’d heard from mutual friends Tay was on the fence again, spending a lot of time with some female.  Sheesh. I’d been preparing myself for my down-low lover to take a hike, so when he walked out that door today, it really wasn’t much of a surprise. That taught me a lesson—don’t deal with anyone who’s unsure about his sexuality ever again. I needed someone totally real and gay, like me.  One hundred percent queer.
As I drove away from my office, the anger built inside of me. Ready to burn rubber, I gripped the steering wheel tightly and made the sharp turn at the corner, intending to enter the freeway. The grooves from the leather pierced my skin and my knuckles turned white from the pressure. Even though my place was only fifteen minutes away, I felt the need to do damage, more like kick the shit out of Tay. Unfortunately, the gas pedal was my only fucking option.

"This story is about two grown ass gay men that each have a little doubt for one reason or another if their relationship will work. The story is conveyed well and kept completely on the adult playing field, I loved it! When these two get going in the bedroom it is passionate and sensual."--TSM
